What is a retreat?
-
Retreat comes from the Latin term retrahere, meaning to pull back. From a Christian perspective, this conscious pulling back from the noises and distractions of the world has the aim to set our time aside for God. A retreat is a period of seclusion for the purpose of prayer and meditation, to open our hearts and minds to listen to God.

Who can attend this retreat?

This retreat is open for all St. Anianus Coptic Orthodox Church parishioners of all ages.

Can I bring a friend from another church?

For individual circumstances, please reach out to Fr. Michael Sorial with any questions about registering individuals who do not attend as a parishioner at St. Anianus.

What is included in the cost of the retreat?

Registration includes all meals and 2-night stay.

What type of accommodations are available?

American Keswick is a retreat center, not a hotel, so accommodations are comfortable and simple.

Each room has 2 double beds and can accommodate up to 4 people.

A rollout bed can be provided to accommodate families of 5.
-
Each room has private bath, wi-fi, fans, and air conditioning & heating systems.

Fresh towels and bed linens are provided.

Some rooms have wheelchair accessibility. Please note on your registration form if you need special accommodations.

Please use one registration form per family. This will greatly help us in arranging room assignments and other planning for the weekend.

If I register as an individual, can I have a single room?

Each room has a 2 person minimum. If registering as an individual, please provide your preferred roommate on your registrations form. We will try our best to honor all requests.

Please note: no visitors or on-site registrations will be permitted.

What is the cancellation policy?

Up to Dec 16, 2022, refunds will be granted

Between Dec 17, 2022 & Jan 31, 2023, refunds will ONLY be granted if you find a replacement for your ENTIRE party

After Jan 31, 2023, NO REFUNDS will be granted.

Will the talks be live streamed or recorded?

Sessions will not be live streamed or recorded. We encourage you to register, set time aside and join us in person in a time of reflection.

What kind of programming will there be for young kids?
-
Programming will include liturgical services, lectures, workshops, activities and free time.

Concurrent sessions are planned during lectures to accommodate the following age groups: adults and youth, Jr youth (6-8th grade), elementary school (1st -5th) and younger children (2-6 years of age).

Will we be able to use the recreational facilities?

Recreational facilities will be available based on a shared schedule with other groups.
